Weekend

Not a very eventful weekend. Bars did alright. New GM of Austin that I have yet to meet. I need to make an effort to meet this guy.
My son told me this weekend that his dad imparted some important wisdom on him. ” If you get the feeling that a girl is going to break up with you then breakup with her first.” I started laughing ” that’s the wisdom your dad gave you? oh boy.” Heartbreak happens even if you get the edge and break up with them first. I told Jackson ” you will break some hearts and your heart will be broken as well. That’s just part of life.
Tomorrow Jackson is turning 10. I have been a bit weepy all day. My big boy is growing up. I bought him a book last week entitled ” Werewolf A Manual for the First Biten”. He is now obsessed with werewolves and is waiting for puberty when a pureblood werewolf will start his/her transformation. ” Jackson your parents would have to be werewolves for that to happen. ” mom I know you are not a werewolve because you would of died and killed me in the womb during your monthly transformation process. But who knows maybe dad is a werewolf.” Ok lets see !
Daniel being the politically correct guy that he is wrote a letter to he girls going to Russian about scanning in their passports for the visa process. ” Try not to be computer tarded” was the exact wording in his email. Today I went to Kinkos ( fedex office) and it took me 45 minutes to figure out how to scan my freaking passport. Yes I am now computer tarded!

Pretty good showing from the bars. Kellor sent a managers log that was so positive, I love that. I love when everything falls into place and you leave work proud of the staff and proud of yourself!! Go Austin ! Last night the Denver bar had what we called a ” do over” anniversary party because at their real anniversary party there was a storm that kept everyone inside. Well of course last night there was another snowstorm and they had a mediocre night. Well if you combine the two anniversary parties it makes one good party. Memphis had a good wednesday, supposedly they had to ID a ton of people because the Miley Cyrus concert was in town. I do not begrudge anyone their success but I don’t get the Miley phenomenom. Is this because kids are watching more cable tv and these kid actors are getting more exposure? Is this because parents are overnurturing their kids so they are willing to pay all this money for concerts. Who knows?

What a day. I am trying to get the bars to all have their merch for sale on the website. Looking for a custom paint job for the new Coyote Ugly Harley.
I am getting worried about our trip to Russia. I don’t have my visa yet. I am stressing on the time issues considering the Moscow bar opens on November 11th.
A lot of little projects today!

What a busy week. Jackson was off last week so I took him to hang with his cousins in Raleigh. I flew home late Wednesday night and had to leave early on Thursday to go to Lodi, Ca for a wedding. Of course I didn’t arrive due to delays till midnight in Lodi. Lodi is a small quaint town. It is where they grow grapes specifically for Red Zinfindel wines. On Friday at our hotel a wine expert gave Trey and I an in depth lesson on wine tasting. I realize now that anyone who actually knows anything about wines must of known that i was full of shit when I have tasted wine at a restaurant!
Saturday I told Trey was my day. I wanted to hit Woodbridge, Robert Mondavi winery and see the whole process of wine making. Trey agreed but he was very clear to say that he felt out of his element. Well we go the 5 miles to the winery and as we approach there are hundreds of bikers in front of it. I was like ” what the fuck is going on? Did Coyote land follow me to this winery?” Well it ends up that the winery was holding the 7th annual chili cookoff and car show. It was like god handed Trey a huge free pass. We ended up eating chili all day and looking at antique cars. We didn’t even drink one glass of wine. ” Man Trey lucked out!” I can’t lie, it was a lot of fun but I feel jipped because this was supposed to be a boyfriend showing support for his girlfriend. ( You know what I mean. You see these suckers in every mall watching their girlfriends try on clothes or dress up and do the classy cocktails with their girlfriends. And the worst boyfriend suck up is going to the movies to see the chick flick; Atonement, Terms of Endearment, or The Reader instead of The Hangover or any Seth Rogen film. ) Damn Trey was supposed to be the whipped boyfriend that day!! Damn it he totally got out of it!!! He actually loves wineries now! Lol

I have been in Raleigh with my son and family this week. These school vacations are killers. A lot going on this week. We are trying to design a Coyote app. Some really fun ideas are being passed around. I am having a hard time accessing the managers logs , but perhaps that is a good thing. I have 2 1/2 months to get some work started to reach a few personal goals. SHARKTANK! I need to be on that show
I have received a couple of emails that ” The office” referenced Coyote Ugly. I love that. My proudest reference to one of my bars was when it was an answer on Jeopardy. So Far Coyote Ugly has been refrenced on Jeopardy, King of Queens, The Office, Family Guy, and I think a few others. That is so awesome!!!!

Painful. Every bar sucked last night! Jackson is off this week so I am taking him to see his grandparents and cousins. He’s all about werewolves today. How do you kill a werewolf? Silver bullets?
Can’t wait to put some new decor in Lauderdale.

Went to the Lauderdale bar on Wednesday night. So many new girls. Some very pretty girls. I am hoping to get an outside girl down there to give them a little more training. I want to spruce the place up a bit as well. I met the Coyote Ugly Men’s softball team. They are crushing everyone. I think their last game they won by over 20 points!!!! Hot Damn. OK now I have to get my fat ass outside and run a bit! I just found out about a show called The SharkTank. I need to be on this show!! Pronto

Some funny stuff going on. A few months ago one of my attorneys was concerned that someone else put in an application for our trademark in Japan and this company according to our Japanese lawyers was called Agree Inc. After doing the research and not finding any information they realized that it was a matter of accent. What he was interpreting as Aug gree inc was actually a pronounced Japanese accent saying Ugly Inc. So this whole time there was no competitor to our trademark, it was Ugly Inc , my company. LOL
Oh man Lee has not changed one bit. The other day he sent me a design for a new motorcycle glove that he loved. I didn’t love it but he asked me to show Trey the design and get his imput. I said ” Lee , Trey is an old time biker. He didn’t like the old design I don’t think he will be honest.” ” But Lil he loved the old design.” ” No Lee he was trying to be nice. But I will send it to him and urge him to be honest in either direction.” So I sent it to Trey and his first response was that as a harley rider the gloves were more designed for motorcross riders.” Lee only hears what he wants to hear. Today we are going back and forth on some projects that have been put on the back burner. Instead of just being honest and saying he dropped the ball , it has turned to me dropping the ball. ” Send me all he contact information I am more then willing to unburden you.” Nobody likes criticism but usually age turns it into motivation. That hasn’t seemed to happen yet.
As I was reviewing my scores on the test I took yesterday I acknowledged that the mind of an employee may be different to the mind of a boss. I am probably freer to answer in a more assertive way. And who knows how well I would take criticism?

I bought a book called ” Strengths Finder 2.0″. Very interesting concept. Instead of trying to change weaknesses you try to work with your strengths to accomplish goals . Not only your own strengths but also strengths of coworkers so you can make them and yourself more productive. After you purchase the book you are allowed to go online and take a test to access your 5 greatest strengths. So of course I had to take the test.
The Clifton StrengthsFinder

“As you may know, the Clifton StrengthsFinder measures the presence of talent in 34 categories called “themes.” These themes were determined by Gallup as those that most consistently predict outstanding performance. The greater the presence of a theme of talent within a person, the more likely that person is to spontaneously exhibit those talents in day-to-day behaviors.Focusing on naturally powerful talents helps people use them as the foundation of strengths and enjoy personal, academic, and career success through consistent, near-perfect performance.

Below are my top five themes of talent, ranked in the order revealed by my responses to the Clifton StrengthsFinder.

1. Ideation
People who are especially talented in the Ideation theme are fascinated by ideas. They are able to find connections between seemingly disparate phenomena.

2. Strategic
People who are especially talented in the Strategic theme create alternative ways to proceed. Faced with any given scenario, they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues.

3. Competition
People who are especially talented in the Competition theme measure their progress against the performance of others. They strive to win first place and revel in contests.

4. Command
People who are especially talented in the Command theme have presence. They can take control of a situation and make decisions.

5. Activator
People who are especially talented in the Activator theme can make things happen by turning thoughts into action. They are often impatient.

Hot damn!!! All the bars did well this weekend. I love that. DENVER ROCKS freaking great numbers!!! I have already decided that if there is another Katrina then I will move to Denver. Its monday and I have had such a positive day already. Very productive very productive!!! Heading to the Ft. Lauderdale bar on Wednesday! Let’s make some miracles happen. I am reading a book called Strength Finder 2.0 I love the idea of working off your strengths to improve your management skills versus trying to improve your weaknesses. It makes a lot of sense. I am all about self improvement today!!

Painful opening the logs this morning. The bars did so crappy. Urgh. afer opening 3 logs that were mediocre I went to the San Antonio log to boost my spirits but low and behold, they sucked last night too.
Last night I spent 3 hours creating a visualization poster boards. I cut out pictures of dreams and goals I want to accomplish this year. It made me feel better. Putting my thoughts out into the universe. Coyote Ugly Casino here we come!!!!

Urgh! Jackson has the flu. Its been confirmed by the doctors. They gave him antibioics and also gave us ( parents) antibiotics as well. He had a high fever on Friday and Saturday but yesterday and today he is just flemy. For 3 days he wached what he wanted and played computer games. Today I am making him watch the Rocky movies. ” Jackson hey are classics and mommy cant stand Teen Titans so your choice. We either watch something that I can tolerate or I work and you watch whatever you want alone. We are on Rocky 4 now. Jackson just asked ” Please mom does Rocky ever die?” ” No Jackson and in fact here are 5 movies” LOL.

Thank god for Denver, San Antonio, and Nashville! Their numbers were awesome last night. Unfortunately the others did incredibly mediocre.
Jackson has 101 fever today and is home from school. Both of us have been off and on sick for the last 10 days. I am wondering if our immunities are down and getting various illnesses or we just haven’t rebound from the last sickness? He had two tests today I hate that he is missing them but I can’t send him to school. You have to give teachers credit. They are around germ infested kids all the time. I may give in this year and get the flu shot.
Congrats to Michelle ( gm Austin) she is getting married tomorrow!

What the hell? The first email of the day is about a lawsuit! As a psychological study I would love to figure out what type of people are drawn to suing people. As an example of what I am talking about: I remember being very young , probably 7 or 8 and going down an escalator in a department store with my mother. My sneaker was caught in the escalator as it moved and I was able to pull my foot out but my sneaker was actually cut into two pieces. If memory serves me my mother looked down at my foot thankful I was fully intact then smacked me lightly across the head and said ” don’t ever put your foot so close to the sides again!” That was it! We walked out. We didn’t even speak to the manager about what had happened. That is only one incident in my life. I have tripped, slipped, fallen in a million stores. I have been served food with hairs. I have been in restaurants with roaches. I have been kicked out of places for not wearing the right clothes. Not hanging out with the right people. The list goes on. Yet I have never even considered filing a lawsuit.
So who are these people who sue? I once had a suit filed against me in which the claim was over 7 years old. The suit claimed a woman slipped in vomit and had suffered severe medical problems for 7 years. The insurance company called me. I looked back in my records and I happened to be the bartender on duty that evening and guaranteed the company that she had fabricated the story. They didn’t even care. They weighed the options by whether it would cost them more to settle or fight them. I was never called again by the insurance company so I do not know what happened to end that claim. What about this scenario? How can a man break into another person’s house with the intent of robbing them , then the family dog attacks them to save and protect the family. The police come arrest the intruder and a few months later the perpetrator sues the family for getting bitten by the dog and wins! I am dumbfounded by this yet intrigued by these people. Is it laziness? Do they see a quick return on their money by suing? Or is it a meanness, the ” I hate the world so I am going to fight everyone type of person?
I read this today and it fits the situation perfectly ” just another moth to the flame.”
